Setlist for 1/22/11 Constellation Books
Monday, 24 January 2011 13:47This set came with a couple of built in challenges. I was afraid for my voice as something has given me quite the cough for the past week or so. I don't *feel* sick, but every now and then, I go into a fit of coughing. It had been getting slowly better so I was hopeful. And it turned out to be mostly good.
I sang just fine, but every now and then I had to succumb to a coughing fit. Very annoying. Fortunately, I was mostly able to finish up lines and verses and then do clever vamps until ready to resume.
I was pleased to begin making good on a couple of my musical resolutions for the year, and included some specifically instrumental pieces (one, original!) and some more on the bouzouki.
Additional challenges came when I realised I'd left the power supply for the laptop at home.
jmax315 came to the rescue with a loan!
And I ran out of disc space on the recorder so a couple of songs won't be in the Great Archive.
But all were surmounted and dealt with and it actually took about 2 1/2 hours before my cough started to become frequent enough to warrant actually quitting or risk some damage.
Attendance was AWESOME! So many excellent people. I wish I had been a little bit more on top of my A game, but there were no complaints, big complements anyway, and excellent requests.
Afterwards, as usual, most of us went en-masse to Sonny Lee's where we ate all of their sushi and chinese food. We felt a little bad about leaving nothing for anyone else that night, but only a little.
