Back into the breach
Thursday, 3 September 2009 11:43So yesterday I started actually listening to, track separating, and writing up my critiques/assessments of the songs that are in my Beast and Boar recordings from Pennsic.
The omens are still mixed as to whether I have an entire album in there, but I only finished "Disc A" of A, B & C and as I recall from the session/show, the better sounding (to me) stuff really started to come into it's own later in.
There are a handful of useable songs, but my thoughts about these are that they will go well with others that are more uptempo and have a little more energy and oomph to them. If it were singles I were doing, these would be good "B sides".
Some of it got lost in a device snafulation at the time, but I don't know how much. But there are still about 2 1/2 hours of recording left and if I find 5-7 good takes, there should be the makings of at least most of a new album in there.
So back to it today.
Well, except, there's this shiny new Facebook thingy to play with.
LJ has connected me better with a lot of my close and distant friends and reconnected me too, but FB is actually proving to be more immediate, and also more far reaching. The re-connections, especially are just going an order of magnitude faster than I ever imagined they could. Just this morning I heard back from an old friend from HS that I REALLY REALLY hoped I could find someday.
And I found her. I had to do a little digging, and some sleuthing, and apply some deductive reasoning, AND some extant memory, but TA-DA!
Once again, I hear the narrator of The Gods Must Be Crazy saying:
"...and one day... there it was!"
Don't get me wrong, I ain't giving up my LJ. I LIKE a place where I can go on and on and on, as only I can, about the stuff I'm thinking of that (in my narcissistic delusion) EVERYONE thinks is important and longs to read every word of.
But FB is going to be a *very* interesting and powerful addition to this life that just keeps getting better lately.
I will give myself some more of this new gift today. Hopefully I will also gift myself with my work as well.
