I spent much too much of the weekend coughing and hacking, including actually setting some stomach muscles into painful spasms on Friday. Oh, the joy of a cough that keeps giving after you're done with it...

I had to cancel a formal gig, and pass on playing at the Greenbelt Farmer's Market (tho the weather wouldn't have been much fun either) and let other productive opportunities go right by me in favor of allowing myself to be ambushed by the couch and by the bed, because I haven't been sleeping well, despite rather large doses of Afrin and cough syrup.

I'm sure now, that the Cold has given way to my ancient Foe, Sinusitis. I will be seeing a doctor for antibiotics ASAP this week, as I have a lot of rather nice gigs coming up next week as well as some partying on the agenda that I want to be well for.

There were a few consolations tho:

The first was some intermittent but always sweet TLC from my spouse. Much of it came in the form of simply letting me lie where I was, especially if I'd crashed, which was often.

Then, Several old Vincent Price movies I had not seen before. He, Cushing, Karloff, Lee, et al had just so much FUN making some of these movies together. You can see that joy as they worked. And one (who's title escapes me) was a total steampunk wet dream that turned out to be based on some works of Jules Verne that I didn't know about. Alas, I couldn't stay up for _The Raven_.
(edit. The movie was _Master_Of_The_World)here)

I found the lyrics and worked out a functional arrangement for "The Hell Of It", a rather rollicking anti-tribute elegy song by Paul Williams from _Phantom_Of_The_Paradise_. And in the process saw (on You Tube) that Williams put in a rather creditable performance of it in the old "Hardy Boys Mysteries" TV show from the 70's. Sometimes in the quest for knowledge one learns things that can not be unlearned, and the overwhelming disturbance of one's reality can drive even the strongest man into madness.
(edit: how can I NOT share this?)
On The Hardy Boys
and if that wasn't insane enough, scary enough,
Oh no, I'm not going to reveal this take. Follow this if you dare

The lady from the assisted living place called me back today to *reschedule* the performance I had to miss.
Performances are usually come and get it or too bad. And sometimes if I've had to cancel, harder to get back IN the door.
That's why my default is to play unless I'm dead or close to it.
So that felt nice.

Then after I hung up the phone I hacked my lungs out for five minutes. AGAIN. (I did that alot this weekend)

That wasn't quite as much fun. Either.

Also, I just got word, that starting in December I'm back on a REGULAR SCHEDULE with New Deal Cafe.
So as of now, My performances there are currently tentatively scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of the month, and that's thru JUNE!
(yeah, Pennsic will interfere, but it always has).
Soon the website and schedules and emails will reflect this.

And now, to attempt once again to maybe sleep some tonight.
So I've lost some sanity points but filled in a repertoirical gap, just in time for Halloween.
