These are the setlists from my New Deal and Madam's Organ solo sets. I'll start posting Rhianon setlists if there's a call for it, but they tend to be very similar gig to gig right now.

My first set on Friday with Rhianon went pretty well.
It was a delight to see [livejournal.com profile] fizzygeek in the audience. I hope she had a happy birthday!!!
Kirkpatrick's would be much easier to play with decent monitors. Unfortunately, my amps were NOT behaving.
Eventually Jeremy got my wedges to work with his amp, the sound of which was helpful but not super.

But perversity being what it is, my mixer/amp and monitor DID work fine at Madam's Organ.
That little stage by the window is still very "fishbowly" acoustics wise, and I spent the evening often just a few dBs below feedback. Hence my lack of any banjo. That flat drumhead would have just bounced all kinds of noise into all kinds of places where it shouldn't be.

Nonetheless, my Madam's Organ set went extremely well.

[livejournal.com profile] silmaril & Breno were willing to follow us to the final Rhianon gig in the evening at Molly Malone's, except I got a last-minute voice mail from Rene informing me that somehow our slot got lost in a scheduling snafu and that we weren't playing after all. Dang! That put me down to only 4 gigs in three days. Oh well. It was just as well that I went home and to bed, because I needed to be up and out by 8:00 for the Rhianon set at O'Meara's in Manassas.

I arrived way early so I wouldn't have to navigate thru parade traffic and barriers. They had a buffet!
It had green scrambled eggs. They were alright. I would eat them with a goat.

So thoroughly well fed, I had a lovely time at this gig. They let us plug into their soundboard, which was awesome, except somehow, no matter what we did, we couldn't turn my guitar down in the monitor mix past a certain point. (Karma?) It was kind of nice to be so audible. There were some moments when I *really* could hear what my playing was adding to our sound, and confirmed that I'm mostly on the right track and even managed to spice up a couple of pieces because I could hear how it was working and where I was heading with it. Their main speaker layout sucked, and so we had to be REALLY LOUD directly in front of us to be heard in the rest of the bar. That kept us close to feedback, and of course that soundboard promised help, but never really worked the way we thought it should.

Our first set went really well, playing for the post parade crowd.
The later afternoon set, not so much fun as people were being very stoic and focused.

But a nice surprise came when [livejournal.com profile] katrinb and Jason showed up with their little one, and they got to meet Renee, with whom Kat has been interacting on another list, but never met in person.
