I've done the charger and extension cord in the trunk trick too. I also did the air compressor in the trunk trick, and found out (the hard way) that when it cycles at pressure it draws more than 15 amps. So a few "service stations" who either charge for air or won't fix their pumps have been rewarded with popped breakers. If it becomes relevant: I really like Interstate batteries. I've had really good luck with them.
