Setlists 2/13/10 Constellation Books
Monday, 14 February 2011 11:15This, as anticipated, turned out to be a very fun set. It started with a plot complication tho- I forgot my memory stick that has all the *latest* songs I've added to the repertoire. The version of my repertoire that is *on* my laptop is pretty up to date, but I had added some specific things for the gig this weekend. Oh, well. Even without the latest and greatest, this was a hell of a good set. VERY heavy on the ballads this time.
And if you look closely, you will see that some of the songs are pairings where it's a sort of +/- take on various aspects of love. For instance, pairing "The Whistling Gypsy Rover" with "Reynardine": In WGR, the handsome stranger is really a Prince in disguise. In Reynardine, the handsome stranger is a shape shifting fox who likes to invite young ladies over to his "castle"- for dinner. And with much of it driven directly from requests it made for a cool interactive dichotomous observance of Valentine's day.
And any day when new faces show up at a show is a good omen.
And- I got some major compliments for my arrangement of "Buttlerfly" from one of the local patrons.
AND- Once again, we feasted mightily at Sonny Lee's. It would seem that some of the food items there are starting to get wise to us and attempting to hide from the menu. But we found them anyway. They could not escape their delicious delicious Fate.
