Now that Santa's on vacation

I don't have to worry if he's listening when I start to complain...

Actually, things ain't all that bad, but I *have* been holding my tongue and being a little *too* polite on a couple of occasions lately and it kind of wound up not doing me much good.
Sometimes when the Inner Tiger wants to speak, it really is better to let him.

And then there's the other time I held my tongue, and I'm really tired of this one.
A friend who happens to have Republican sympathies, happened to overhear some talk of our wishes for the upcoming presidential election. Hillary Clinton was again in the news as a likely candidate.

Now personally, I'm against this because I think that our society as a whole is not mature enough to elect a woman as president, especially one with as colourful a history and reputation as H.C. has.
If she ran this time, I don't think she'd win, and we'd then be back with the same damn Conservative Machine trying to grind our country into some sort of conformist-centered oligarchy... again.

BUT, I WANT to see HC run for president and I WANT to see her win. I think that some day she can and will and it will make history and really help the nation finish turning a corner towards positive growth again.
I just don't think that 2008 will be her moment.

But no. My friend states that HC running for and winning the presidency would be "Scary" and "Dangerous".

My diplomatic and sensitive wife got me out of there before I could hurt anyone, but dammit, the holidays are over and I've got a whole year to get back on Santa's good side.

Maybe you're not who I was talking to, and maybe you are.

Hillary Clinton is SCARY? DANGEROUS? POWER MAD?

Let's start with that last one. Exactly HOW is "Power Mad" any different than who we got now?
Exactly Who, in our present Executive Branch starting with the top, can be argued as being uninterested in "RULING" this country as opposed to "LEADING". And how exactly is that desire NOT to rule manifest in the things they have done, Constitutionally, and in their Executive capacity.

Now, as to the other charges, Scary and Dangerous.

Let me tell you what I find Scary And Dangerous:

-A President and an entire Executive Branch who thinks that it's okay to start a "Pre-Emptive" war based on flawed intelligence.
-A President and an entire Executive Branch who thinks that it's okay to incarcerate US Citizens indefinitely, without counsel, or a guarantee of a fair trial by simply designating them "enemy combatants"
-A President and an entire Executive Branch who consistently takes steps that undermine the Constitutional guarantee of Free Speech, and has even gone so far as jailing citizens by labelling those citizens' stated opinions as threats that are clearly covered under the first amenment
-A President and an entire Executive Branch that consistently favors this dubious war effort over true domestic priorities and thus fails to answer the call of citizens in need even during major disasters
-A President and an entire Executive Branch who consistently favors the interest of major (oil and other) companies over legitimate, documented environmental and human rights concerns.
-A President and an entire executive branch who clearly favors the social and economic agendas of one religious sect, even when the common good is harmed and Government Interference forms a CLEAR conflict of interest.
-A President and Executive Branch who SAY they are fighting for our freedoms against a repressive foe, EVEN as They STEADILY and CONSISTENTLY adopt and adapt the very repressions we are supposed to be fighting against.

Sorry, but I'm not buying this.
I really don't see how ANYTHING Hillary Clinton says, stands for, and does with her time are the least bit scary.
And if they were, someone explain to me how having her as president could be any less dangerous to our country and especially our freedom than what is being done right NOW by OUR CURRENT PRESIDENT.

And yes, I AM a liberal, pagan, peacenick, hippy libertine.
That doesn't mean I'm wrong about this.

So, some one enlighten me. What makes Hillary Clinton; Scary or Dangerous? More so than the Jackass who's in the oval office now?
Come on. Show me. And be specific.
