Not updating much lately
Friday, 31 March 2006 23:05As I don't really feel that much worth going on and on about has been happening.
A couple of notable tics and progresses have ocurred:
-Physical therapy is helping my knnee alot. It's not always pleasant (especially the electric stimulation- I just don't like electric shocks, even little ones), but it is effective. I can now limp down stairs at about 50% of pre accident ability, and up stairs, I can almost look normal. I'm mostly back to my normal shambling gait. I still HATE getting into and out of cars, tho. That's the last thing that actually hurts a little to do.
- I just got my cybernetic knee brace today. Very futuristic. It might even have room to attach retractable blades or laserbeams or something. It's definitely a "supervillain" type of accessory. But seriously folks, it will be nice to be able to hobble about Spoutwood farm's uneven ground and have some feeling of real support.
-I AM going to get the ligament repaired surgically, but it looks like with the 6-week rehab period, that it won't be practical to do this until about September or October. Too many gigs where I'll need to walk and carry stuff. (shucky darns)
- I finally went and found the website for and caught up on Phil Foglio's _Girl Genius_ comic. I hoped against hope that they'd continue the comic, but no- it's several strips a week now online with an annual book. At last I'm caught up on the exploits of my favorite geeky herionne and her oh, so lovely victorian undergarments.
-Big thing tonite: Got an acceptable vocal track for "Norwegian Wood". It took a few hours, but this time I'm starting to really *feel* some of my work and improvements (vocal wise) catching up with the recording process. Most of the other vocals have been like chipping away at a stone one grain at a time. This time it was more like patiently massaging a muscle that was actually responding to the work. Actually that is what happened as I was incrementally able to relax into the song and eventually I even got some of the expression and humor I wanted to come out. I wasn't quite able to give it the "Donovan" feel I kinda wanted to try for, but it's going to be a lovely track anyway. Some extra instruments will be added that will give it a sound that's not quite my usual tonal palette: flute, tenor banjo, and (hope hope) autoharp.
-tomorrow will be more sign painting for MDFF, but that starts at 3:00 which gives me some excellent scrounging time for wood for next week, plus, some sleeping in. And maybe time tonight to treat myself to some Miyazaki(sp?) anime, borrowed from
