Bogosity continues, but progress is made anyway.
Monday, 6 March 2006 12:21I found myself still seriously lacking energy this weekend. Getting up and doing things still wears me down pretty hard because of the knee, but I'm still getting better.
But Saturday, it seems, someone was still intent on having lots of fun sticking pins into their Maugie doll. The gig on Friday left me a little run down, so I didn't get into the Studio after all.
patches023 went visiting in Delaware, which left me alone in the house, and gave me what I thought was an excellent opportunity to duck out and see _Eight Below_.
But I left my cellphone at home and arrived too late to catch the early show. So I wandered Beltway Plaza for a couple of hours (slowly, and hobbledly) and finally caught the show. It was a very sad movie for me because it brought up all kinds of memories of my own husky (Charlie) and what a great dog he was and how I really don't know what happened to him (he vanished while I was moving).
So I had a good wearing out and a good catharsis and boy was I ready to get home and crash. But nooo.
The van wouldn't start. When I got my new battery, one of the attractions for having them install it was that "alternator test" was listed on the perks. The guy looked at the dash while the car was running and declared the alternator fine 'cause the 'light' wasn't on. Yah, right. The van is still running a little dark, and it still bothers me, and well, Saturday night, it decided to strand me in Beltway Plaza in the cold in the middle of the night with no cellphone. Grrr.
The security guard was kind enough to try to give me a jump start, to no avail.
But they let me call AAA on the office phone. So I got home at 2:30 wiped, tired, and cold.
The van won't start today either. Grrr.
But Sunday wasn't a total loss. I did get into the studio and I did get four very nice rough mixes of
Jamaica Farewell
Summertime
Don't Think Twice, It's Alright
If I Had A Boat
So I can put them onto a CD and use them as a first draft demo on a couple of soft targets. More gigs, here I come!!!!
Because of the van not starting, I missed my appointment this morning to get fitted for a permanent knee brace, but the guy who I was gonna meet is an independent seller, so we were able to salvage the slot by him driving here.
So in a couple of weeks I get to go bionic. If it works (and apparently there are pro-footballers who wouldn't be able to work unless they had one of these), then it'll be useful to not be one false move away from major re-injury.
I think I still want the surgery too, if if's covered.
