Today ain't such a bad day.

It's the monday after the Western PA Fairie Fest and I'm sitting here on the
shore of Cooper's Lake typing this on my laptop, having a bit of breakfast
before I head home. Naturally, I have a bottle of the awesome chocolate milk.
I've also just had a delightfully *warm* shower in one of the bathhouses this
morning. (It's not as big a bragging point as going to Mars in a rowboat, but
a ten am warm shower at a Cooper's Lake bathhouse is still pretty hard to
beat, I think.)

I'm watching a school of "just big enough to eat" fish attack the hell
out of the crumbs of my last poptart.

Some Highlights of the weekend:

Another old friend came out of the woodwork on Friday. My friend Sue, who
lives in Fairfax came to see Rhianon play at Auld Shebeen! We even got
a chance to chat a little bit.

VaRF wasn't nearly so bad this time. I found a niche where I could do some
playing on my own, and did ok. I made back about half my gas money, so at
least I could eat on the road later.
Also, we sound much better with Amber singing harmony with Renee. Now, if only
they could project some more.
VaRF bonus: At the pub sing at the end of the day I got to lead them
singing McIntyre. They didn't even need to be taught to shout.

The drive up from VaRF to Cooper's Lake wasn't nearly as grueling as I'd
dreaded it'd be. My strategy of stuffing my face with subs, chocolate and
about 1/2 a gallon of Coke seemed to work. Having a working stereo was also
key. I listened to a pile of some of my favorite albums of all time and that
really kept up my spirits. Also, I was just plain glad to be driving to
Cooper's Lake for a Faerie Festival!!!

I got in about 1:30 am and slept nicely. I found my contact point ok, and
set up and did some excellent playing by the front gate and some excellent
playing by Thorny Rose.

The Faire overall was small, and somewhat modestly attended. It did not kick
ass the way we did our first year, but just as we did, it provided proof of
concept that this IS a viable market and it should do nothing but grow from
here out.
-observation: I thought *we* needed staff!!!

I made some excellent new friends and found two acts that I really gotta
get for MDFF.

And last night, instead of driving home on two days of faire burnout and
not enough sleep, I stayed over. I helped Andrea and Steve tear down and
we all hung out and campfired for awhile, shared some dinner and rested up
nicely for our respective drives home.

I've still got alot of crap that I need to excise from my life before I'm
fully content with it. But today, I think my life is pretty OK.
