What's my style?

A comment by tafkad has grabbed my attention, and has become something I'd like to explore.

My first question is
1) What do you think my "style" is musically?

2) How did you arrive at this/these conclusions?

tafkad commented in my "Groundhog Day" entry after I mentioned that I was wondering what songs I did that could be appropriate for GH when I played New Deal.
He suggested, if I knew it, that I sing "Springtime For Hitler" from _The Producers_

When I answered that it wasn't in my repertoire as it wasn't really my style, he replied that he thought that the song and the humor especially were *definitely* my style.

I know how *I* percieve my art, and such, but many times now, I've encountered a very strange phenomenon/perception. And I just don't see myself doing songs like this on solo guitar and harmonica with *my* voice. And yet, every so often I'm asked for "Showtunes" and and when I say I don't know them,
I'm met with looks that are even *more* puzzled than the looks on peoples' faces when I don't know *every* Grateful Dead song or *every* Child Ballad.

Do YOU think that I know alot of "Showtunes"? Do you know for a fact that I know any?

Why?

What genres/artists do you think are "specialties" of mine?

Why?

How would you describe my style, with regard to my approach to songs and arrangements?

Why?

What am I best at(IYHO)?

It's not in my interest to let down people's hopes and expectations of me, but I'm at a loss sometimes about where these expectations or hopes are coming from.

-So, let me know where you got your ideas about what I know and what I do

Setlist from New Deal Cafe 02/02/04

Lots of good requests last night.

Last night's focus seemed to fall on the "humorous" side, but there were some "pretty" requests as well, and some good songs in honor of Groundhog Day.

The Mystery Song (#8) got some good guesses, and some of them are honing in on the era. But remember, even tho the album I got this from is not the kind of record you'd expect me to listen to today, I did and still do kind of like it. So, if you're trying to figure it out and want to eliminat some possibilities, it's NOT by : Glen Yarborough, Sonny & Cher, Cher(solo), Donny & Marie.
But just guessing will not do. I'm looking for the winner to tell me the Album this song came from, and knowing that, they'll be able to tell me the more famous songs on that album.

(Tho I'm dreading finding out that the song got covered by someone like Andy Williams or Robert Goulet.
But in that case I guess I'll award a prize anyway just for the Wrongness)

I'll toss out one hint to my LJ readers. There are Two(2) people on my friends list who MAY be able to remember this song. One of them, I saw it in her record collection way back in College. The other, I spoke about the album with when I first relocated it and he remembered a different song on it that he'd liked (that also was not one of the hits).
Neither of them have ever made it to a New Deal Gig. So dragging random people off of my friends list to
hear me at New Deal is not only a fine thing to do, but could help you win a copy of _Patches_. (plus bragging rights)

One other interesting request came from Christian & Noelle, intrigued by the mention of infectious hepatitis in "Colorado Rockies" asked if I had any other songs featuring venereal diseases. So that is why "Poison Ivy" is dedicated to them.

Kudos also go out to Patches who exhibited some of the most creative interactive miming as singalong ever during "Badger In The Badlands", and gets the shout-out additionally for cajoling various table-mates to join her.
