And I don't even need to wear black hat and twirl my mustachio.

My daughter has apparently taken great exception to the very stern tone with which I lectured her yesterday about her upside down priorities and consistent self-sabotage regarding her getting into and going to college yesterday.

And apparently one bit of advice she's getting is "if he makes you uncomfortable, avoid him".

Precious.
Oh well.

I guess it's just my lot in life to be chastised for saying that the Emperor is Naked and Rome is Burning.

But what would *I* know about lack of opportunity and poverty caused by a lack of a solid education?

So since *I'm* not diplomatic or credible enough to be taken seriously, would any of you be willing to do me the favor of informing young M** (with personal data if possible) how the correllation between education and opportunity is NOT a coincidence and that the people who succeed tend to have knowledge and education in common, and NOT just the dumb luck- that natural talent is the BEGINNING of the game and not the end of the line?
I'd like to find a way to encourage her to aim a little higher in life than writing high school level fanfic on the web.
If you know her, please write her, and if you don't, and want to send a missive to her thru me, email me privately.

I am SO fucking tired of this widespread disdain for education in our society, that is, unless you managed to somehow get one. Does NOBODY see the power of knowledge anymore beyond a fidgety elite who cut school budgets so that they can finance a war, sending the ignorant to fight the stupid who have every right to resent their greed?

In other news, I'll playing at New Deal tonight.
Come help me channel a bad mood into good art.
