The gist of it is that this guy believes that it is hubris and contributing to the downfall of the US if the new Muslim Congressman takes his oath of office on the Koran instead of the Bible.

Good god, this guy myst be on crack. the oath is sworn before God, it HAS to be on the physical representation of a god who you, as the individual, take seriously, or it is meaningless.

The key point here is his idea that "American" = "Christian." He would exclude everyone who does not hold the Bible sacred from his idea of "American." The thing is, Keith Ellison is as American as he is. So am I. And both of us have, as Americans, the right to hold sacred whatever holy book, holy tradition, or holy practices we choose, or none of the above if we please. Individual Americans, not Dennis Prager, determine that.

If we really held to American values, all public officials would take their oaths on the Constitution, because THAT, not the Bible, is the central document of American culture. We differ on what religious texts we hold sacred, but EVERY American public official is (or ought to be) unified in support of the Constitution.

Or I was, until just now, when I excommunicated you for not knowing that I was already a pope because every man, woman and child on the face of this planet is one.

And then excommunicated myself for using this power in public.

So I guess we're no longer popes until one of us gives in and recommunicates the other.

We should probably both reinstate ourselves and each other and grant permanent dispensation to exceed our lawful authority so that this never happens again.

Whew! That was a close one. I don't think the Universe could have functioned much longer without our Papacys.
