The Wilson Bridge obstructs their view of Venus

And so they're going to blow it up.

The last big chunk of metal that is the former span of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge will be brought down via carefully placed explosives.

TONIGHT.

The very nice gal on the phone at VDOT told me that they expect to do it at about 11:30 tonight. This contradicts the official website which says they're doing it tomorrow.

Anyway, I plan on going down to Old Town Alexandria and seeing which of the various parks provide a good view and seeing how close I can get to watch the big kabooms and the accompanying crashes and splashes. If anyone cares to join me and either carpool or rendesvous, please call me on my cell phone
301 928 1068.

If you go, bear in mind that they will be closing both directions on the *current* bridge for the duration of the event, so you might want to aim early or come from the VA side.
